A new feature in The Monday Gazette is providing a showcase for pictures taken by the photographers at Gazette Newspapers in Basingstoke.

A Month in Pictures features four pages of photographs snapped by the team of picture editor Jason Allen - the current Newsquest Weekly Photographer of the Year - senior photographer Sarah Gaunt, senior photojournalist Richard Garfield and trainee photographer Tom Bellchambers.

The four pages include some of the pictures that have been published in Gazette Newspapers' publications during the previous calendar month, some that were unpublished and others that have been specially taken for the pull-out.

Gazette Newspapers editor Mark Jones said: "We have some excellent photographers at Gazette Newspapers and this is a new and interesting way for us to display their work.

"I believe it will provide added reader interest and appeal to The Monday Gazette and will hopefully also boost our already impressive reprint orders."

The new feature has already attracted sponsorship support from Basingstoke firm Wella UK which also sponsored last year's Gazette Newspapers photographic exhibition. That event was organised as part of the Gazette Newspapers 125th anniversary celebrations.
