Race for Life award for regional snapper

Dorset Echo photographer Finnbarr Webster has won Cancer Research UK's Race for Life Award for Photography.

The newspaper itself also won a commendation for the Regional Newspaper Coverage Award.

  • Louise Holland, director of the national events department for Cancer Research UK, told Finnbarr: "Your entry won the photography award because of the impact your features had on Race for Life within the Dorset Region pre and post race.

    "The special 12-page pull-out feature was an amazing piece of photography which really captured the special celebratory atmosphere on race day.

    "Your contribution has had a major impact on Race for Life and has truly made a difference to the work of Cancer Research UK."

    Over the last ten years more than 1m women have taken part in Race for Life raising over £60m for cancer research.Finnbarr is the Echo's deputy chief photographer.
