Sports photography firm Empics has achieved a double success at the national E-Commerce Awards.
In the regional e-business category, Empics was highly commended for its use of the Internet and technology to improve its business.
The company was also short-listed in the mobility and wireless technology category for the national innovation awards.
One of the judges, Jeremy Brough, said: "The judges were impressed with Empics' approach to its market place. It is a true e-business, catering for a wide variety of needs."
Empics founder Phil O'Brien said: "Over 95 per cent of our business is conducted electronically: our online photo library contains over 600,000 of the world's best sporting images, and our New Media Stills Production technology delivers sports photos to websites and mobile phones in seconds."
As part of its services, Empics also offers an online digitized sports photo library of some 600,000 images dating from the 1860s to today, including images of football, cricket, rugby, tennis, motor sport, golf, horse racing and many other sports.
The national E-Commerce Awards were announced at a dinner attended by Stephen Timms MP, Minister of State for Energy, e-Commerce and Postal Services.
The awards are run by UK online for business, a partnership between industry and government which promotes IT use in business, and by InterForum, an organisation that helps British businesses to trade electronically.
