MEN opens up photo archives to the world

The Manchester Evening News has made some the most memorable images from its archive of photographs available to the public.

Pictures covering more than 100 years of news and sport can now be viewed and purchased online at the paper's photo sales website.

Users can search the archive of more than 2,500 images under the categories of news, sport, entertainment, famous faces, aerial views, royal visits, the wars and bygone days.

Pictures of historic events such as the Strangeways siege, the Munich air disaster, the blitz and last year's Commonwealth Games are available.

The website is also updated daily with the latest pictures from the Evening News.

Photographs can be purchased in either an A3 or A4 size.
