Budding photographer wins memorial contest

The South Wales Evening Post has chosen the first winner of a competition set up in memory of one of its former photographers.

Father-of-three Mark Entwistle died in 2000 after a short illness, aged 37.

He had worked for the Evening Post for four years after previously working as a freelance.

Judges chose 10-year-old Jessica Jones, who submitted a photograph of the Queen's visit to Margam Park during her Golden Jubilee tour, as the winner of the first Young Photographer of the Year competition.

Jessica visited the Post's Adelaide Street office where she was presented with her prize by editor Spencer Feeney. Members of Mark's family were also there.

It is hoped the competition will become an annual event.
