Students snappers share stage with industry names

Photography students from the Falmouth College of Arts will be displaying their work alongside that of many notable industry photographers later this week at an exhibition in the town.

The event, 50/50, is being staged to raise funds for a planned exhibition in July, and will include prints by well-known photographers such as award-winning documentary photographer Simon Norfolk, fine art photographer Susan Derges, fashion photographer, Frank Herholdt and documentary photographer, Zed Nelson.

Work from the 60 third-year students on the college's BA (Hons) Photography course will also be on display, together with that of staff from the college, all of whom are practising professionals.

Each print at the event, which is being held at the Quench juice bar, will be on sale at the official opening and any unsold prints will be available throughout the exhibition.

Student Sharron Lovell, who helped organise the exhibition said: "One of the key elements of the college's photography degree programme is its contact with the industry to prepare us for our future careers."

The exhibition opens on Wednesday, April 30 and runs until Saturday, May 3, between 10am and 5pm daily.
