Photographic tale of three cities

A Bristol Evening Post photographer has opened an exhibition of her work, showing a photographic view of New York, Paris and San Francisco.

Barbara Evripidou's collection, called Bagels and Baguettes, opens today, until April 5, and is showing at the Little Strawberry Gallery at the Clifton Arcade in Bristol.

Barbara, (32), has been a professional news photographer for 10 years but this is her first exhibition.

She said: "I took the pictures while I was on holiday trips to the cities but I did not take them with an exhibition in mind.

"It was great to be able to take pictures without a brief and without a deadline. It was a chance to experiment and use different methods for different effects.

"I used a 35mm film that is normally used for slides, but had it processed as a colour film, and it had a mad effect on the colours.

"I shot some well known buildings and landmarks using that technique and I was surprised at how it came out."

The exhibition is being sponsored by the Evening Post and photography specialist Snappy Snaps.
