Photographer is flashed at outside court

A teenager who bared her bottom at a press photographer outside court narrowly missed being sent to prison, according to the judge.

Her actions - directed at Portsmouth News photographer Mike Scaddan - broke the conditions of her anti-social behaviour order.

Mike was outside Portsmouth Crown Court taking pictures of a defendant in a trial when she was part of a crowd outside which started gesturing and shouting at him.

The she turned around and "mooned", according to prosecutors.

But her defence solicitor said tensions were running high because the case Mike was working on was a "distressing matter" about the death of someone in a car accident.

And the girl acted "in frustration", immediately telling her key worker she was sorry, and regretted doing something that would take her back to court. Her original ASBO was given last year.

Judge John Woollard, sitting at Portsmouth magistrates' Court, handed her a 12-month conditional discharge and ruled she should stay anonymous, according to the entitlement under the 1933 Children and Young Persons Act, because he said he was aware of the effects of press coverage on the defendant.
