Daily Post lands Hollywood picture exclusive

The Daily Post was handed a world exclusive by Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie while she was filming her new blockbuster in North Wales.

The actress has been filming Tomb Raider 2 in Snowdonia and gave the paper a genuine picture exclusive by authorising the release of two personal pictures of her and her adopted son Maddox on their film set.

Just hours earlier Maddox had been released from Liverpool's Alder Hey hospital, where he had been staying for three days after being burned in an accident in North Wales.

One of the actress's staff called the paper's Llandudno Junction office last Sunday to offer the pictures and within hours they were delivered to picture editor Richard Williams with the byline 'courtesy of Angelina Jolie'.

The agreement meant only the Daily Post could use the pictures, disappointing national papers who contacted the Llandudno office asking for the pictures.

Daily Post editor Alastair Machray said: "It is great to know Angelina was so impressed with our coverage of her visit to North Wales.

"We have been quite vigorous in our pursuit of her since she arrived in North Wales and our photographers in particular have gone to great lengths to get pictures of her in quite difficult terrain in Snowdonia.

"But she obviously respected and valued the way our staff have gone about their jobs.

"The call from her staff was a great surprise and the quality of the pictures superb. It was a great scoop for a regional newspaper which cost us absolutely nothing."

The Daily Post broke the story of the actress's arrival in North Wales and published the first pictures of her in the region.

During her stay in the region the paper published daily reports on the filming as well as exclusive pictures of the film set.
