A veteran Shropshire photographer has been awarded an MBE for his services to the community.
Dan Arden, who lives in Edgmond, near Newport, has worked as a freelance and staff press photographer for 64 years.
The 83-year-old joined the Shropshire Star in 1964 and was its first photographer to produce a colour picture for same-day publication - of the Duke of Edinburgh.
He retired in 1982 when he was deputy chief photographer, but still does freelance work for the Newport and Market Drayton Advertisers.
He said: "I am delighted and surprised by the award and it is a great honour."
