Young photographers are being given the chance to take their first steps on the career ladder thanks to the Stoke Sentinel.
The paper is offering young people the chance to see what life is like behind the lens, with a two-day work experience placement in its photographic department.
The winner of the Sentinel's photography competition will also have the opportunity to have their work displayed in the media and photography department at Stoke-on-Trent College, which is co-sponsoring the competition with the Sentinel and Moorland Photolabs.
Other prizes include a SLR 35mm camera and a £25 photography voucher.
The competition, part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations, is open to students between the ages of 13 and 16 from any Stoke-based school.
Sentinel picture editor Paul Ellis said: "The competition is a good opportunity for young photographers in the area to show off their talents."
