Heart attack claims lensman

Photographer Mick Cheney has died in hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Mick, who was in his early 50s, provided sports and news pictures for the Northants Evening Telegraph for a number of years.

He was a familiar face on the Northamptonshire sporting scene and had worked as club photographer for Kettering Town Football Club and Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.

Evening Telegraph sports editor Ian Davidson said: "Mick was a true professional, totally dependable and able to work quickly, accurately and to a high standard.

"The news of his sudden death has come as a great shock to all who had the pleasure of knowing him."

He leaves a widow, Jane, and two children, Emma and Tommy.
