Freelance Sid dies

Freelance photographer Sid Hopkins has died after a lengthy battle against cancer.

Sid, (94), lived in Llanelli where he was well known in photographic circles and captured most major public, civic and sporting events.

His photographs frequently appeared in many local newspapers, including the Llanelli Star.

Paying tribute to Sid, Llanelli Star editor Robert Lloyd said: "If it happened in Llanelli during most of the last century, then Sid would have had it on film.

"He was a true gent and one of Llanelli's greatest characters. He was regarded as a legend by his colleagues in journalism. He will be sorely missed."
