Surprise police award for Trevor

"In 1987 when Michael Ryan ran amok in Hungerford, people fled the town.Undaunted, Trevor climbed across a pipe over the river to get somedramatic pictures.

  • The lead-up to the 1986 SummerSolstice
  • "Just one year earlier, Trevor was to stumble across a picture whichstill today is recognised throughout Wiltshire and decorates many apolice officer's wall. During the infamous lead up to the 1986 SummerSolstice, Trevor was making his way towards Stonehenge along the A303.

    "He warned police officers at the bottom of the hill near the historicstones of the oncoming crowds but at first they would not believe him.

    "The picture which Trevor took showing thousands of people racing overthe hill with just a handful of officers standing between them andStonehenge is one which he himself describes as "once on a lifetime".

    "Trevor is respected for his journalism and photographic skills acrossthe county and beyond, however he is not being presented with this awardfor his skills and expertise as a photojournalist. He receives thisaward for his strong sense of community.

    "Trevor has assisted the Wiltshire Constabulary on many occasions with PR photographs. He is respectful of police procedures and protocols when attending incidents and displays compassion to victim's wishes. He cares about people and that shows through his work."

    His certificate reads: "This award is in recognition of your outstanding work as a photojournalist reporting upon a wide range of incidents and newsworthy events in the county of Wiltshire. You have established a good working relationship with the Wiltshire Constabulary and been ever respectful of our investigation needs when attending incident scenes."
