Former Echo photographer honoured

Former Northern Echo photographer Iain Weir has been honoured at an annual golf event.

Eighteen golfers, many of them former colleagues, took part in the second annual Iain Weir Memorial Golf Day.

Iain, who was 38, died two years ago after suffering a heart attack while waiting for a bypass operation.

His death led the Northern Echo to launch the Chance to Live campaign, which prompted Health Secretary Alan Milburn to launch the National Service Framework for Coronary Heart Disease.
