Roy becomes a Whizz Kid

Kids at a Lincolnshire primary school know all about the world of photo-journalism following a visit from a local paper's chief photographer.

Roy Ealden, who works for the Lincolnshire Echo, was a special guest at Leslie Manser school's after-school club for gifted pupils.

He gave the children a talk about the history of photography and explained how newspapers used modern technology in their picture coverage.

Roy explained: "We did a few activities using reflection and light and I really enjoyed leading the session.

"The children really got into the subject and produced some good results."

The club, which is called Whizz Kids, was set up to enhance the learning experience of exceptional pupils.

The members set their own program of study and guest speakers in the past have included an author of children's books.
