New Year photography project enters new decade

An ambitious photography project which chronicles the unfolding events of New Year's Day has entered its seventh year.

Photography24 involves 24 snappers from around the world each documenting one hour from midnight on 1 January.

Once the 24 photos have been selected they are presented every year in an exhibition whose theme for 2010 is 'rebirth'.

Among the contributors and co-ordinators is Ipswich-based Sarah Brown, staff photographer for the East Anglian Daily Times and Evening Star.

Launched in 2004, organisers are hoping the project will run for 24 years.

The original 24 photographers met while studying on a postgraduate photography course at Central St Martin's in London.

The exhibition runs from 24 February to 19 March in Golden Square, Soho, London.
