A former chief photographer at
The Scotsman who left during the
recent shake-up at the paper is launching himself as a specialist cricket photographer.
Donald MacLeod, whose son Calum plays cricket for Scotland and Warwickshire, was at The Scotsman for 29 years until his recent redundancy.
He now plans to offer a cricket photography service as the main plank of a freelance news and features operation.
He told Allmediascotland: "I've been cricket mad for years. Obviously, I'm up for other types of work too, particularly news and arts features - which I have done a fair bit of during my time at The Scotsman - but it's really picture ideas I'm looking for and perhaps turn that into something for a client."
Donald, who was also chief photographer at Scotland on Sunday, is now building a website to showcase his work which will be available at donald-macleod.com
Other recent departures from The Scotsman include its features editor Jackie Hunter, and its Scottish political editor, Hamish Macdonell.
Editor John McLellan recently announced a series of appointments to newly-created senior roles covering The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News.
