Specialist magazine launches photography competition

A specialist magazine is launching its second photography competition for both amateur and professional snappers.

Digital Photographer is offering eight category prizes with the overall winner taking home a Fujifilm camera worth £500.

The competition, open to anyone aged over 13, gives amateur photographers and students the chance to compete on an equal footing with published professional snappers.

Press photographers can submit shots which have appeared in newspapers or online through the course of their jobs.

Digital Photographer editor Debbi Allen, who is also on the judging panel, said: "Working in conjunction with some of the leading names in the photographic industry, our objective for these awards is to find hidden talent and expose it to the world.

"Encompassing multiple genres of photography, the awards will showcase the high standards achieved by many enthusiasts and semi-professional photographers."

The competition categories are:

Portrait
Landscape
Documentary
Travel
Black and White
Macro
Wildlife
Wedding

Entries can be submitted from July 17 onwards and the deadline for entries is November 14. More details about the competition can be found on the Digital Photographer website.
