Former regional press photographer Ken Upton has died aged 67.

Ken was born in Coalville, Leicestershire, and started his career as a dark room technician and trainee photographer while studying photography at day release classes.

He joined his hometown paper, the Coalville Times, aged 19 but was let go after two years as it couldn't afford to pay a senior photographer.

From there he joined the Windsor and Slough Express where he snapped the Royal Family and visiting film stars.

His next job was at the Matlock Mercury followed by a move to Evesham Journal in 1964.

He became chief photographer two years later and worked for the paper for two decades.

Ken left the Journal to become picture editor for the Berrows Group and Worcester Evening News.

He was made group picture editor before he left the company in 1991 to start up his own business covering weddings and PR work.

Ken did voluntary work with Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society, the Fine Arts Society and Elmley Castle Cricket Club.

His funeral was held in Elmley Castle, near Evesham.
