Images captured by Evening Gazette photographers have gone on display at an exhibition in the north-east.
North-east Life - A Year In Pictures shows aspects of local life in 1999 - a year which included changes in the economic climate, the summer eclipse, and a host of community life and sport.
Work from Middlesbrough Gazette photographers Michelle Maddison, Doug Moody and Dave Charnley will join that of others in the area at the display in Durham.
Doug Moody has worked at the Gazette for 20 years and is pleased that the work of press photography is being recognised. His work on show includes Status Quo at a Skelton pub, athlete Dwain Chambers in the 100m at Gateshead Stadium and sunset over Teesside's industrial landscape.
Dave Charnley's work is a collection of three prints - ranging from a dramatic picture of the Green Howards in Kosovo at the height of the conflict to bulb planting at Middlesbrough's Nature World.
Michelle Maddison's three photographs include a stunning shot of the summer eclipse over the Transporter Bridge, youngsters treading the boards at the Northern Stage Dance Festival and a Middlesbrough landlord celebrating 30 years in the pub trade.
Durham University's Head of Public Relations, Keith Seacroft, said: "Newspaper pictures are an important record of life in the region.
"This is a chance for the public to see the original photographic prints at their best and recognise the quality and range of news photography."
