Photo-journalism student Lisa Kohli (pictured) is preparing for national television exposure.
She is featured in BBC2's Foot in the door documentary on Thursday at 9pm as she attempts to land a job on the Independent.
TV cameras followed Lisa and two other hopefuls over five weeks as they spent time at the newspaper's London offices, attempting to produce a front-page picture and secure a job.
Lisa was unsuccessful but gained valuable experience.
"They were filming us while we were at the Independent, scanning images, and followed us while we were going on jobs - on some of them we were shadowed and on some we weren't," she said.
Lisa began her photo-journalism studies on an NCTJ course at Sheffield Norton College last year after winning a £3,000 award from the National Union of Journalists under a scheme to encourage students from ethnic minorities.
She had more cause to celebrate this week after being highly commended in the Lawn Tennis Association's Wimbledon Bursary competition. She will spend several days at the tournament, taking photos.
The award went to fellow Norton student Allan Bovill (for our story about him, click here) but this is the first time that judges have also awarded a commendation. They praised the richness and colour of Lisa's portfolio.
