Tributes have been paid to a Polish-born former regional press photographer who has died aged 81.
Zygmunt Janiszewski, better known as Ziggy, worked for the then Bolton Evening News for 16 years between 1968 and 1984.
He had moved to the North-West from Lodz, Poland, after the Second World War, meeting and marrying his wife Margaret in Chorley.
The couple, who had six daughters, settled there and Ziggy, pictured left, worked for the Chorley Guardian before joining the Bolton Evening News.
Yesterday, his family spoke fondly of a private family man who took photographs right up until the end.
Youngest daughter Debbie Woolley said: "He had a wonderful time at the Bolton Evening News. I remember going to Pontins with him in Blackpool every year when he would take pictures of Bolton people on holiday.
"With six children, it was a hard life for my mum and dad. He was the main bread winner and worked long hours to get us the things we needed."
Mr Janiszewski retired from the Evening News in 1984 due to ill health, but in retirement still enjoyed taking photographs everywhere he went.
He enjoyed a drink in his local pub, the Grey Mare in Harwood, and regularly used to meet up with his friends in the Polish community.
Mr Janiszewski died after a short battle with cancer. His funeral will take place at Euxton Crematorium today.
