Virtual newsreader 'Brian' is replaced with more attractive model

Eastern Daily Press virtual newsreader "Brian" has been replaced with a more attractive model.

Its website, www.edp24.co.uk, has launched "Karena" - a custom-built RSS newsreader who, unlike Brian, is based on a real person.

  • Karena
  • Model and mother-of-three Carina West, (35), from Thorpe Marriott in Norwich, was chosen from hundreds of models and actresses, and with the help of city company Televirtual MediaLAb has been transformed into Karena.

Taped TV sequences of Carina have been spliced and blended with reconstructed still images, with individual features such as eyes, mouth, nose and eyebrows all captured piecemeal to allow interactive computer control of the assembled image.

She has now replaced Brian and will read news from RSS feeds as well as information from WeatherQuest and PA Sport.
