Scottish publisher increases frequency of titles on back of successful year

A Scottish publisher has increased the frequency of two of its newspapers after a successful inaugural year.

Premier Publishing has run six titles since October 2006 in and around the Glasgow area – two of which will now switch from monthly press runs.

As of January The Inverclyde News will become a weekly while the Southside News will print fortnightly.

Its other publications – West End News, City Centre News, East End News and Northside News – will all remain as monthlies.

Campbell Murdoch, chief executive of Premier Publishing, said: "We have seen an increase in advertising revenue.

"We have got a lot of property and a lot of advertisers are saying if we were a weekly they would be with us. And I am sure we can fill a weekly."

The six papers employ 18 staff, including three reporters, along with freelancers from their Glasgow HQ.
