Johnston Press backs leaflet drop for bully charity publicity drive

The Yorkshire Evening Post's parent company, Johnston Press, has donated 150,000 leaflets to the charity Bullying UK.

Nearly 50,000 of the leaflets, designed as anti-bullying guides for parents and children, have been sent to schools all over the UK for Anti-Bullying Week which begins on November 19.

The award-winning charity, previously known as Bullying Online, has marked its name change with a major re-brand of its publications and website.

Director Liz Carnell, a Post sub-editor, said: "We'd been thinking of changing the name for a long time, as people either thought we only dealt with internet bullying or we only worked on the internet, neither of which is true.

"Since we snapped the name up it's been a great commercial benefit, we've had lots of interest in sponsorship, including a deal with games maker Activision.

"Over the last eight years, the company's support for Bullying UK has been great. The feedback from the leaflets has been very positive. We took thousands to North Yorkshire County Council's anti-bullying conference – teachers couldn't get enough of them."
