The Borehamwood & Elstree Times is celebrating its 20th year since changing from its original title, The Post.

First published in 1949, the bold move of renaming the paper proved a success

The final issue of the Borehamwood and Elstree Post was published in December 1986, and early the following year, a fresh, new-look newspaper reached newsstands in the region as the Borehamwood Times was officially launched.

The Borehamwood Times also moved premises and reporters soon switched from using typewriters to the more modern and now crucial technology of computers.

This ultimately quickened the speed and accuracy of producing copy and in 1990 the paper was adjudged to be the best weekly publication in Britain.

In 1998, the paper reverted back to using Elstree in its title after it was bought by Newsquest. As copies of the paper continued to sell, focus was switched to internet users.

The Borehamwood & Elstree Times website was launched in 2001 and is currently visited by over 4,000 readers each week. .

By 2004 the paper had moved its delivery day from Thursday to Friday and as it celebrates its 20th year of circulation, the title remains positive of expanding its readership even further.
