Newbury Weekly News photographer Geoff Fletcher has won a 'judges choice' award in a contest run by the Association of Photographers.
His image 'Spot the Dog' was chosen by judge Terri Manduca from more than 1,700 entries in the annual Open contest, which both amateur and professional photographers can enter.


The sale of the South London Press, North London and Herts Newspapers and the Yellow Advertiser to Tindle Newspapers Ltd has been completed.
It was announced earlier this month that the group would purchase 27 titles from Trinity Mirror for £18.75m.


Former Gazette & Herald reporter Sarah Singleton has been shortlisted in the The British Fantasy Awards 2007, for her short story The Disappeared.
The journalist has so far had three children's novels published, with debut novel Century winning the prestigious Booktrust Teenage Prize in November 2005.
The British Fantasy Society will announce the winner of the short story award next month.
