15 news staff in 80ft abseil for Evening News charity

Daredevil Archant staff plunged down the sides of the company’s main Prospect House building in Norwich in a sponsored abseil to raise money for Nelson’s Journey, the Norwich Evening News’s chosen charity of the year.

A total of 15 staff took part in the challenge to abseil from a height of 81ft down the four-storey building.

Local celebrity Harry Potter star Chris Rankin also took part in the challenge.

Sarah Hall, a reporter with the Evening News, said: “It was good fun and once you step over the edge it is plain sailing. Most of us got a bit of an adrenalin rush from the weather - torrential rain and gale force winds as we were balancing on top of the building really got the heart racing!

“But the guys were really professional and reassuring and most of us were ready to go back up again.”
