Journalists at a weekly newspaper group in Scotland are claiming they have to take on extra responsibilities without extra pay.

National Union of Journalists members are due to submit a collective grievance against the company they work for, which has not been publicly named but which has been confirmed to holdthefrontpage to be Clyde and Forth Press.

The NUJ is claiming that staff at a weekly newspaper group have had enough of the "unreasonable demands on their time and expertise", and further claims that there has been an increase in the expectations of bosses who believed there was a "bottomless pit of goodwill" among journalists.

In a post written by NUJ Scottish organiser Paul Holleran on the NUJ Glasgow website, the union says the issue affects reporters, sub-editors and photographers.

It says one of their concerns is staff being asked to cover for absent editors, without any extra pay.

His article also claims trainee reporters are being kept on lower rates while still being expected to do the work of senior staff.

Clyde and Forth Press have not responded to holdthefrontpage inquiries.
