Sports journalists are being invited to book their places at two of the biggest gala events in the Sports Journalists' Association calendar.
The 2007 SJA Sports Awards are to take place on December 12, with the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards set for March 17, 2008.
The Sports Awards are where members get the chance to rub shoulders with the sporting greats of the day – with last year’s individual winners being Joe Calzaghe and Zara Phillips.
The British Sports Journalism Awards are regarded as the Oscars night for the profession, with all the top journalists, whether writers, photographers or broadcasters, celebrating excellence in sports reporting.
Association secretary Steven Downes said: "We are particularly looking to encourage all sports journalists, including regional and local press, to get involved with the SJA and to take part in our awards.
"Last year, the regional sportswriter of the year was won by Doug Gillon, of The Herald, who was also good enough to win the specialist writer category. But to win it, you have got to enter."
The events will both be held at The Brewery in Chiswell Street, London, and tickets can be booked through Sandra Phillips on 020 8916 2234. Discounts are available for full table bookings.
A booking form for the 2007 SJA Sports Awards lunch is now available online here.
Full entry details for the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards will be announced later this year, and will be available on the SJA website.
