Renowned chef gives thumbs-up to Gazette's Good Dining Guide

The Westmorland Gazette's new 'Good Dining Guide' got the ultimate seal of approval when three Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal helped himself to a copy to check out the competition in the Lake District.

The renowned chef, famed for his scientific approach to cooking, had been filming for his next series of 'In Search of Perfection' for the BBC at Low Sizergh Barn farm shop near Kendal.

Food writer Gillian Cowburn had been covering the occasion and took along some copies of the guide to show the farm shop owners.

Without prompting, Heston helped himself to one of the magazines and began flicking through the pages (below).

The 64-page Good Dining Guide, which has been published under the Limited Edition banner, is a compilation of menus from some of the top hotels and restaurants throughout the Lake District.

Gillian said: "The response from the restaurants has been overwhelmingly positive.

"There's just nothing like it in the area. It's flying out of the tourist information centres and the locals love it too."
