Daredevil reporter completes 100ft abseil at the double

Daredevil reporter Tina Miles has completed an abseil down the side of a fire station tower - twice.

Tina, (24), attempted the 100ft abseil to help raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, and ended up being sent down twice to ensure the best footage was captured for an online video report.

She told HoldtheFrontPage: "It was good fun, but quite scary.

"I had to do it twice for the camera. It doesn't seem that bad until you are on the ledge about to go down."

Tina, who works for the Southport Visiter, volunteered to take part in the event after writing about local siblings Ella and Sam Wright, who both need bone marrow transplants.

Despite searching worldwide registers of 11m potential donors a suitable match has not been found, and so Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service organised the stunt to raise money and encourage more people to sign up as donors.

Tina was one of 35 people who took part, and overall £6,000 was raised.

She said: "I thought this was something that I could do myself, rather than just covering the story.

"Ella and Sam are from our patch so it's great for us to be able to help local children in this way."
