The children's charity Bullying Online, run by Yorkshire Evening Post sub-editor Liz Carnell, is celebrating a £200,000 legacy.

The money was a quarter share of a £1.1m estate left by Robert Brown from Berkshire, who died in 2005.

Bullying Online, founded in 1999, gives advice to parents, children and schools dealing with bullying through its website at www.bullying.co.uk.

The award-winning charity, which has a number of Evening Post newsroom staff and their families among its trustees and volunteers, will be spending the money on new projects.

It recently moved into an office in Harrogate and is expecting to take on a third paid member of staff shortly.

"We don't know very much about Mr Brown but the bequest was a tremendous boost to our work," said Liz.

More than 500,000 people visited the Bullying Online website last year and the team has replied to 50,000+ e-mails in eight years.

It's the first destination for anyone searching the word 'bullying' using Google, MSN and Yahoo.
