Proposals to give journalists routine access to family courts are scrapped

Proposals to allow the media in to family courts as of right have been scrapped.

The move had featured in a Government consultation aimed at improving openness in family courts, but the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice Lord Falconer has now said that the proposals will not be taken forward.
