The National Union of Journalists has announced details of a union-wide day of action which it says will highlight "a deepening crisis in the industry".
Under the banner 'Stand Up for Journalism', the union says it plans to hold a protest at the Society of Editors conference in Manchester on November 5, between noon and 1.30pm.
An evening rally in London is also planned, and thousands of NUJ members around the UK and Ireland are expected to take part in workplace protests.
News of the day of action was announced at the NUJ's annual delegate meeting in April, and, according to the union, is in response to the "accelerating threat to journalism and journalists from devastating cuts across the industry".
