Commuter paper launched as sister titles team up to target new audience

Rail passengers in north Oxfordshire are being targeted with a new publication put together by two Johnston Press newspapers.

The Commuter is being produced by the Banbury Guardian and the Bicester Review, providing a "lite" version of the two weekly papers with a summary of key news, sport, business and entertainment stories as well as advertising.

The first edition was handed out at Banbury and Bicester North railway stations yesterday.

With an initial print run of 5,000 copies, it will be distributed free to rail passengers every week.

Banbury Guardian editor Jason Gibbins said: "The Commuter is the perfect read for people on the move.

"It is deliberately designed to be a quick read, keeping rail passengers from the Banbury and Bicester area in touch with events from their home towns.

"We appreciate people lead busy lives and it can be difficult to find the time to keep in touch with news from home, so the Commuter is designed to give a snapshot of the things our readers need to know.

"We are delighted to extend the service we offer to readers and advertisers by reaching out to this new audience."
