Media industry consulted for new good practice guide on reporting poverty

Media guidance to support good practice in reporting on poverty is to be produced by the Society of Editors.

The Society and the Media Trust have been commissioned by The Joseph Rowntree Foundation to put together the reporting guide, and have begun consulting with journalists and broadcasters and voluntary organisations.

As part of that news staff have been asked to complete an online questionnaire about which issues they cover concerning poverty, and which sources they use.
