Trinity Mirror saw advertising revenues for its regionals division fall in the first four months of the year, but its digital revenues grew.
Chairman Sir Ian Gibson was due to tell group shareholders at an Annual General Meeting today that the advertising environment remains challenging, but he continued to expect conditions to stabilise during the year with the rate of decline slowing.
Overall group advertising revenue for the first four months fell by 2.4 per cent, with regional advertising revenues down by 2.3 per cent - or, excluding the acquired digital businesses, by 3.3 per cent.
Digital revenues for the regionals grew by 24.8 per cent, while circulation revenues fell by 0.8 per cent.
