County Times staff work to ensure 3am election update

Staff on the Powys County Times stayed up all night to ensure their readers were first to know the Welsh Assembly election results this morning.

As the Liberal Democrats held on to seats in Montgomeryshire and Brecon & Radnorshire, County Times staff were on hand to ensure that results, which did not come in until 3am, were announced on the newspaper's newly re-launched web site.

With the newspaper going to press before the election count Editor Nick Knight made best possible use of the web site to ensure the County Times was first with the news and pictures.

North Wales Newspapers publishing director Graham Breeze said: "This was a brilliant effort by Nick and his enthusiastic team.

"If ever there was an opportunity to demonstrate the value of linking the printed newspaper to the electronic version this was it. The team was determined to be first with the news, even beating TV and radio."
