Newspaper helps MP's teen mag photo strip story become reality

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle has made the dreams of a North East MP come true.

It published a double-page teen magazine photo story spread that he penned more than 30 years ago.

  • The finished article
  • In the early 1970s, while studying at Manchester University, Newcastle East and Wallsend MP Nick Brown made a living coming up with storylines for the popular teen magazine Jackie.

But bosses chose not to use his first storyline - and it never made it into print until the Evening Chronicle stepped in.

The paper also paid the MP the £20 he would have got from the magazine, which he donated to the paper's charity the Sunshine Fund.
