The Harrow Times’ Caring for Kids appeal with CLIC Sargent has suffered a blow after the girl at the heart of the campaign lost her battle against cancer.
Thirteen-year-old Meg King was the face of the appeal that is raising money to fund a specialist nurse for the children’s cancer charity. The King family have thanked the Harrow Times and its readers for their support and help in raising £6,500 for the appeal as they paid tribute to their brave daughter to reporter Sukhi Anand.


The average recycled content of standard newsprint has risen since last year, the Newspaper Industry Materials Committee’s annual report has revealed, the figure for 2006 reaching 80.6 per cent, up from 80.3 per cent in 2005.


Oxford United were celebrating a financial boost this week after learning that a £10,000 sponsorship from the Oxford Mail has been doubled by Sportsmatch.
The Oxford Mail backing for United's football in the community department has gone into a girls evening and after-school coaching programme.
And Sportsmatch, the business sponsorship incentive scheme for sport, were so impressed by the programme that they have approved their own award of £10,000 on top.


The Oxford Mail and Oxford Times have hosted the fifth annual fun run for the city. Singer and actor Jason Donovan opened the event.


A production worker from Archant Herts & Cambs put her best foot forward in memory of colleagues Des Kyle and Les McKay, who died of heart problems.
Pre-press operative Elaine Allen took part in the British Heart Foundation’s Hearts First Jog at Knebworth Park, walking the 10k course in two hours.


Bristol Evening Post reporter Rupert Janisch is being supported by insurance firm Axa Sun Life as he runs the London Marathon for the Bristol Children’s Hospital. The firm’s £300 sponsorship is part of the £3,000 he hopes to raise.
