Call for shareholders to question Trinity Mirror chief's pay

The National Union of Journalists has reacted angrily to news of Trinity Mirror boss Sly Bailey's 50 per cent pay hike.

Her remuneration, including bonus, went up to £1.47m, according to the company’s annual report.

NUJ president Chris Morley said: "She is a one-trick pony in the City, slashing cost but bereft of ideas to grow the business.

"She has led Trinity Mirror up a blind alley and her strategy for the future is destructive and wasteful.

"We hope shareholders see through this charade and revolt against this bizarre pay package at the company's forthcoming AGM."

The Trinity Mirror remuneration report will go to shareholders for their approval at the Trinity Mirror annual general meeting on May 10.
