Newsdesk embarks on running story - literally

News staff at The Bath Chronicle have given a new meaning to the phrase running story.

All three members of the paper’s newsdesk are in training for long-distance runs – along with a number of other Chronicle employees.

Deputy news editor Tom Bradshaw is preparing for the London Marathon on April 22 while news editor Paul Wiltshire and assistant news editor Alan Williams are in training for the Nationwide Bath Half Marathon on March 25.

Tom, who completed last year’s half marathon, is once again running for the charity Clic Sargent.

Paul, who has been sharing the pain and pleasure of preparing for his first-ever half-marathon in a tongue-in-cheek weekly column called Mine's A Half, is also running for the children’s cancer organisation.

Alan, who in the past has run the London Marathon, is raising money for homelessness charity Julian House.

Joining them in the Bath race will be advertising department field sales executive Oliver Howe – who is running for the Leukaemia Research charity, Chronicle sub-editor Abby Ray, Somerset Standard and Guardian series sports editor Nick Gregory and Nick Humphries, who heads the paper’s process department.
