Chronicle website shows it's a big noise in the city

The Bath Chronicle likes to think its website is a big noise in the city.

And it's proved the point - by putting a big noise in the city on its website.

The paper’s front page splash on the anger of residents kept awake by night-time rail engineering work was illustrated on its website with an audio file of the noise itself.

A resident recorded the sound - in his home with the windows shut - and sent it to reporter Laura Matless.

She got together with internet manager Hugh Dixon to upload it on to the thisisbath.co.uk website.

News editor Paul Wiltshire said: "We couldn't do justice to the sheer level of disruption this work was causing to people in print, but we could demonstate its impact powerfully on the website.

"It gave a striking extra dimension to our coverage."
