The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald was among the winners in Devizes' first pancake races.
The event, organised by Age Concern, featured four races but the first of the day featured a neck and neck finish which the Gazette, led home by fleet-footed editor Gary Lawrence on the anchor leg, just nicked on the line.
Deputy editor Jo Moore, who ran a steadfast second leg, told listeners on the paper's weekly radio slot: "I think the fact Gary shouted loudest as he crossed the line may have swayed the judges."

The rest of the team featured sports editor Stuart White and sports reporter Nick Mashiter, who took part despite forgetting to bring his trainers and complaining of a sore knee.
The Gazette's victory was aided by the fact another rival, the local undertakers, dropped their pancake at a vital moment.
Organiser Liddy Davidson, of Age Concern, said: "We were thrilled to have so much support from the people of Devizes and thank them all.
"For all those who gamely took part, thank you for giving a toss about older people."
