Express & Echo claims triple exclusive in armed siege coverage

The Exeter Express & Echo has scored a triple exclusive with its dramatic story of an armed siege in the city.

It went live at the same time in print, online and in video news with the story on Wednesday.

The paper was the only media outlet at the scene when a women brandishing a knife shut herself inside a house.

More than a dozen patrol vehicles were sent to the scene after the alarm was raised and a negotiator began attempts to talk the woman out of the house.

After six hours police were able to enter the house and escorted the woman out and took her to hospital. She was physically uninjured.
