Regional newspaper editors Donald Martin, Alan Qualtrough and Brien Beharrell have been appointed directors of the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

Alan is Western Morning News editor and Northcliffe South West editorial director. Donald is Glasgow Evening Times editor, and Brien is editorial director of the Newbury Weekly News.

They join the board of the training body following the retirement of four long-serving directors.
