EMPICS' GameOn FA Premier League mobile service has been named as one of the five finalists for the Best Made for Mobile Infotainment for Sports & News Content in the 2007 Global Mobile Awards.
Powered by the ShootLive delivery system, GameOn offers mobile consumers in-game coverage of the FA Premier League. The service combines pictures from sports photographers with real-time text commentary, official data and match information.


The funeral of popular former South Wales Echo editor Geoff Rich was taking place in Cardiff today. Donations to the Noah's Ark Appeal were requested in lieu of flowers.


The funeral service for Rutland and Stamford Mercury photographer Andy Dennis has taken place at the Priory Church in Deeping St James.
Philip Spratley played organ and Kirsty Hope sang Amazing Grace following tributes from family friend Rick Miller, Gill Hamilton, Helen Bembridge, of Lives FirstResponders, former Rutland and Stamford Mercury editor Tor Clark, Andy's wife Lindy and Colin Ward, representing the Freemasons.
Joe Cocker's Up Where We Belong was played as the coffin entered the church - the same record was played at Andy's marriage to Lindy. The service closed with Lean on Me by Bill Withers.


The UK national Commission of the UNESCO secretariat is running an article-writing competition in partnership with the Independent to mark World Press Freedom Day on May 3.
The prize will be £1,000 and publication of the winning article in the Independent. More information can be found at www.unesco.org.uk. The closing date is February 28.


The secret of success of Irish newspapers will be examined at the World Newspaper Advertising Conference & Expo in Zurich next month.
The World Association of Newspapers says the event will look at what Irish newspapers did to encourage creative print advertising, and how they proved that newspapers can effectively build brand recognition for their advertisers.
