This year's Local Newspaper Week is to have an environmental theme.

The annual event, run by the Newspaper Society, celebrates the community role of local newspapers and will run from May 7 to 13.

This year it will also focus on how local papers are driving environmentally-friendly initiatives close to home.

Each year the event has a different theme, and the NS issues a press pack based on this with ideas for features and competitions as well as general information about the industry.
